Refund & Cancellation Policy

Overview

GetUThere Driving School is committed to providing fair, transparent, and consistent policies while protecting the time and safety of our instructors. We comply with the Australian Consumer Law and outline below the conditions under which refunds, credits, and cancellations apply.

Important: We do not offer refunds for change‑of‑mind purchases.

1. No Change‑of‑Mind Refunds

Once a lesson, package, or service is purchased, refunds will not be issued for:

  • Change of mind

  • Choosing a different transmission type

  • Not checking our service area

  • Personal scheduling conflicts

This aligns with industry standards and ACL requirements.

2. Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy

To cancel or reschedule a lesson, students must provide 24 hours’ notice.

  • Less than 24 hours’ notice = lesson forfeited

  • No‑shows = lesson forfeited

  • Notice must be given via SMS, phone call, or email

This ensures instructors’ time is respected and available for other learners.

3. Refunds for Single Lessons

Refunds are only available when:

  • The lesson is unused,

  • The request is not due to change of mind, and

  • The request is made 24+ hours before the scheduled lesson.

Fees applied to approved refunds:

  • $10 administration fee

  • Original surcharge/processing fee (non‑recoverable from the payment provider)

Completed lessons are not refundable.

4. Refunds for Lesson Packages

Refunds apply only to unused lessons and are not available for change‑of‑mind requests.

When refunding a package:

  • Completed lessons are recalculated at the standard single‑lesson rate

  • Remaining balance is refunded minus:

    • $20 administration fee

    • Original surcharge/processing fee

Packages expire 12 months from purchase.

5. Instructor Cancellations

If GetUThere must cancel due to illness, vehicle issues, or unforeseen circumstances:

  • You may reschedule at the next available time, or

  • Request a full refund for the affected lesson only

Note: The surcharge/processing fee may still apply if it cannot be recovered from the payment provider.

6. Driving Test Bookings (Q‑Safe Test)

  • TMR booking fees are non‑refundable

  • Test day packages require 48 hours’ notice

  • Late cancellations may incur a 50% fee or full forfeiture

7. Gift Vouchers

  • Gift vouchers are non‑refundable, including for change of mind

  • They may be transferred to another learner

  • Valid for 1 year

8. Non‑Attendance & Safety Refusals

A lesson may be cancelled and forfeited if the student:

  • Arrives without a valid learner licence

  • Appears under the influence of drugs or alcohol

  • Behaves in a way that compromises safety

  • Arrives more than 15 minutes late

No refund or credit applies.

9. Refund Request Process

All refund requests must be submitted in writing. Processing time: 10–12 business days.

10. Compliance with Australian Consumer Law

GetUThere Driving School complies fully with the Australian Consumer Law. Students retain their rights to a remedy for major service failures — but change‑of‑mind refunds are not required or provided
